This is a Navajo first phase chief’s blanket and it’s one of only about 50 that exist. This piece is at @theautry and it was made by a master weaver anywhere from 1800-1850. There are subtle indigo lines and a purposeful breach of the solid white by a brown line that the weaver worked day in and day out to execute to perfection. Weavings like this one are incredibly rare so if you have the opportunity to stop by a museum and see one, I highly encourage you to do so. #navajo #firstphase #chiefsbl
