Our rescue team was sent out to save this opossum that was seriously entangled in a backyard soccer net. With the owner’s permission, we cut the net to safely free the opossum and transport him to our hospital. Once at the hospital, our clinic staff carefully cut the remaining net from the opossum. Thankfully, this patient did not sustain any injuries. However, we can imagine he was very sore due to the tightness of the rope. The patient was given fluids and pain medications and is now resting.

This bitey adult Osprey (25-6739) was admitted after being found on the ground and unable to fly. Even upon first admission, he was noted to be weak, thin, and ‘bitey’! Since he had no obvious wounds or injuries, veterinarians believe his condition could have been the result of several differentials including exhaustion, infectious disease, malnutrition, or a toxin or parasite.
