This week, we welcomed Minnesota students to Orchestra Hall for Music for a Better World Young People's Concerts—and shared the stage with our friends 29:11 to perform the traditional South African song Shosholoza. This song was sung by enslaved gold, diamond and coal miners and later became a protest anthem that united people fighting Apartheid. We were grateful to share this music with students, who learned to sing it alongside us! | Minnesota Orchestra

Ndlovu Youth Choir performing "Shosholoza Feat. Kaunda Ntunja" "Shosholoza" is an Nguni song that was sung by the mixed tribes of gold miners in South Africa. It is a mix of Zulu and Ndebele words, and can have various other South African languages thrown in depending on the singers. The song is so popular in South African culture that it is often referred to as South Africa's second national anthem. The Ndlovu Youth Choir dedicated their performance to the late isiXhosa commentator, Kaunda Ntun
