Making a bronze spear head As part of our prehistoric video series for English Heritage, we wanted to show that although Grimes Graves is best known for its Neolithic flint mines, it was also home to Bronze Age metalworkers. Here, they specialised in making basal looped spears from the middle part of the Bronze Age, around 1300-1100BC. These are tricky spears to cast due to their long socket and very thin blades.
