Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth approved the release of California National Guard troops from a federal mission in response to wildfire concerns.

Roughly 150 California National Guard troops working in Los Angeles for more than three weeks guarding federal property from immigration protesters and providing protection to federal agents making arrests have been reassigned to help prepare for wildfire season.

Less than a month after thousands of National Guard troops were deployed to LA, the Dept. of Defense said 150 troops will be released from their duties in LA. Gov. Newsom responded by saying 'now send the rest home.
