'I want it more': Red Wings select feisty Carter Bear in first round of NHL Draft
The Wings selected left wing Carter Bear Friday with the 13th pick in the first round of the NHL Draft. Bear (6-foot, 180 pounds), who suffered a partially torn Achilles tendon that ended his season in March, scored 40 goals in 56 games for Everett (WHL). Bear said expects to be ready for training camp.

LOS ANGELES -- Not long after the Detroit Red Wings selected him with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, Carter Bear revealed he was still processing all the emotions of his life-changing Friday night at L.A. Live’s Peacock Theater.
Bear, who played three seasons for the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League, was selected 13th overall.
