Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a new nearly $115 billion state budget into law. Monday's signing ceremony capped a long and combative legislative season marked by GOP infighting.

One day before the start of the fiscal year, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a roughly $115 billion budget into law, after vetoing nearly $600 million in spending. The spending plan is about $3 billion less than the current year, and comes after a protracted negotiation between the House and Senate over tax cuts that delayed its approval.

The roughly $115 billion budget was $3.5 billion less than the current year. DeSantis’ action shrinks the plan even further, and tucks more into what had been $12.4 billion in reserves. Much of the delay by lawmakers stemmed from clashes with DeSantis, and between the House and Senate, over spending and tax breaks.
