The Cowboys have hired offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach after parting ways with Mike McCarthy.

Serving as Cowboys offensive coordinator the last two seaosns, Schottenheimer brings 25 years of NFL coaching experience to the job.

DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys have found their new head coach: Brian Schottenheimer, the team's offensive coordinator the last two seasons. Schottenheimer replaces Mike McCarthy, who split ways with Dallas after the injury-riddled Cowboys struggled to a 7-10 record in 2024.

Schottenheimer and the Cowboys have named Dave Borgonzi, Aaron Whitecotton and Andre Curtis to the staff, the team announced Wednesday. All three are defensive hires. And all three new additions were greatly influenced by new Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus . Schottenheimer, though, had final say on the hires as head coach.

The Cowboys have hired Derrick Foster as the team’s running backs coach and David Overstreet II as secondary/cornerbacks coach.

With a new coaching staff in place for the Dallas Cowboys, there are set to be winners and losers across the roster. In a previous post, I went through those players whose stock is pointing up thanks to recent hires made by head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
