The Arsenal striker saga is nearing conclusion as the club reportedly made the final steps in negotiations around one of the most sought-after forwards.

Gyökeres is facing disciplinary action from Sporting after he missed his deadline to report for pre-season training on Saturday.

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres has said the style of play under his former coach Ruben Amorim "suited me perfectly."

However, he was absent on Friday's delayed return date, and has told Sporting president Frederico Varandas he will not play for the club again. The Swede reportedly feels betrayed by Varandas, believing he reneged on an agreement to let him leave for €60million plus €10m.

FC Barcelona have ruled out signing Viktor Gyökeres due to his high price and the fact that he is not a priority for Hansi Flick. The Swedish striker is now very close to joining Arsenal.
