The Sensex rose 303 points to end at 84,059, while the Nifty gained 89 points to close at 25,638. The Nifty Bank index advanced 237 points to finish at 57,444, led by strong contributions from ICICI Bank,

The domestic equity benchmarks traded with small gains in the mid- afternoon trade. The Nifty hovered above the 25,600 level. Media stocks rebounded after slipping in the last session.
