A tornado touched down Sunday afternoon in Kent County, the National Weather Service confirmed Monday. The twister came as parts of Michigan further north endured a devastating ice storm over the weekend. According to NWS, an early-season squall line developed over Illinois Sunday afternoon and tracked northeast across southern Lower Michigan.

Severe storms that moved through Kentucky spurred a number of tornado warnings, injured several people and destroyed a church in West Kentucky.
