Rep. Gerry Connolly, who represented Northern Virginia in Congress for more than a decade, died early Wednesday, his family announced. He was 75.

Connolly had represented Virginia's 11th District in Congress since 2008 and served as ranking member of the U.S. House Oversight Committee until weeks before his death.
