Franklin County commissioners say they’ll vote next month to increase the county’s sales tax, though they’re still debating the amount. Should they raise the tax a quarter cent per dollar?

The increase will bring the county’s share of the total collected sales tax on purchases to 1.25 percent, which is the same as in 12 other counties, including Cuyahoga, Delaware, Madison and Union.

The Ohio Department of Taxation says starting on April 1, sales tax in Franklin County and parts of nearby areas will see a 0.5% increase.
