The grid is set for the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri, thanks to the “hairpin of [his] life,” stormed to the front of the field to capture his first Grand Prix pole position. He nipped George Russell for P1 in a thrilling qualifying session and will start right in front of his McLaren teammate Lando Norris,

McLaren missed out on making the front row but will have the pace to compete from behind. Lando Norris had been fastest by almost half a second during Friday’s opening free practice session. Today’s sprint is followed by qualifying for tomorrow’s Chinese Grand Prix. Today: Sprint race (11pm ET), GP qualifying (3:30am ET).
