The Red Sox CBO has taken care not to divulge specifics about what went on with Devers behind the scenes and what most of the trade conversations were like. However, on WEEI’s Greg Hill Show on Tuesday morning, Breslow did slam one report as “absolutely not true.”
“Devers was humiliated [by the Red Sox],” Ramirez told MLB insider Héctor Gómez. “It’s not about pride or ego. I think the team didn’t respect him or communicate with him properly. I’m sure they didn’t do that to [Roger] Clemens. I can’t imagine the Yankees telling [Aaron] Judge, ‘Now we’re moving you to catcher.’”
Rafael Devers is a proven slugger witht 215 home runs over 9 major league seasons. He’s hit more than 30 three times.
Rafael Devers balked at becoming the Red Sox' DH, and later refused to try out first base. The team worried that would be a dangerous precedent for a roster filled with rookies.
