Emma Raducanu came from behind to beat American Ann Li in the first round of the Eastbourne Open on Tuesday and held back tears after a hard-fought victory.

On Tuesday afternoon, the seven-seed Raducanu took on Ann Li in the first round of the 2025 Lexus Eastbourne Open (WTA 250). Raducanu defeated Li in a three-set match that was a reminder of her ultimate goal: 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-1.

Emma Raducanu shared with reporters that her post-match tears in Eastbourne were caused by some "bad news" but didn't want to go into details. On Tuesday, the British tennis star struggled early on but ultimately found her way back and completed a 6-7 (5) 6-3 6-1 win over 64th-ranked Ann Li.
