Newcastle have entered the race to sign Brentford forward Yoane Wissa despite talks with Tottenham.

As Newcastle target Yoane Wissa, comments made by Alan Shearer back in December 2024 are worth revisiting. After the Brentford No.11 scored in a 4-2 win over Newcastle last season, he received a glowing review from Shearer, even if his heroic performance came at the expense of the Geordie’s beloved Magpies.

Wissa has been on Forest’s radar since last January, when they had a £25million offer for him rejected. And he has been one of their primary transfer targets this summer, but particularly since the £52m sale of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle was confirmed.
