Off-duty Lakeview police officer Larry Blacksmith died in a motorcycle crash in Dickinson while on his way to work, officials said.

A 27-year-old Sun City man died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into the back of a pickup truck in Santee Monday night, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

Bethlehem police said the crash happened around 5 p.m. in the area of Corning Hill Road. A car driving south crossed over the center line and struck a motorcycle driving north, police said. The motorcyclist was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
