Pete Alonso stands alone — and the man he passed is now congratulating him. The Mets slugger set the franchise’s all-time home run record on Tuesday night at Citi Field with his 253rd career blast, and Darryl Strawberry, who now sits in second place, had plenty of nice things to say to Alonso.

The Brewers were familiar with Alonso’s torment. American Family Field was where he hit the go-ahead homer in Game 3 of last year’s NL Wild Card series, clinching the first round for the Mets and sending them to the NLDS for the first time since 2015.
