WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration on Thursday opened a civil rights investigation into the hiring practices at George Mason University, expanding a national campaign against diversity policies to Virginia’s largest public university.

The Department of Education launched a Title VI investigation Thursday into George Mason University for allegedly illegally using race and other “immutable characteristics” in the school’s policies and personnel decisions.

George Mason University is facing a second civil rights probe in two weeks by the Trump administration, this time over its DEI policy.
