The Florida Attorney General is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to allow the state to enforce a new immigration law while lower courts decide whether the law is constitutional.

"Litigants cannot change the plain meaning of words as it suits them, especially when conveying a court's clear and unambiguous order," the Miami judge wrote in her contempt order.

The Florida law in question would make it a crime for undocumented migrants to enter the state if they had previously been deported or denied entry.
