The Detroit Red Wings are keeping forward Patrick Kane for another year after he signed a one-year, $3 million extension on Monday.

Detroit - For the second consecutive year, the Red Wings and Patrick Kane took negotiations to the eve of free agency. The Wings and Kane worked something out on Monday night.

The way Patrick Kane flourished the second half of the season, there was little doubt he’d return to the Detroit Red Wings. The club made it official Monday, signing the 36-year-old future Hall-of-Famer to a one-year contract with a base salary of $3 million.
