The San Diego Padres were rumored to potentially deal Dylan Cease or Robert Suarez at the MLB trade deadline, but a move never materialized.

Buster Olney of ESPN reported that starting pitcher Dylan Cease could be available at the MLB trade deadline. San Diego is open to moving its All-Star pitcher, especially in a market thin on front-line starters. In return, the Padres want MLB talent who can help them win in October.

Dylan Cease remains a part of the Padres starting rotation. Moreover, the team acquired left-hander Nestor Cortes from the Brewers just before Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline.
