By David Lawder, David Ljunggren and Susan Heavey WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly cut off trade talks with Canada on Friday over its tax targeting U.S. technology firms, saying that it was a "blatant attack" and that he would set a new tariff rate on Canadian goods within the next week.

The president says he’s immediately suspending trade talks with our neighbor to the north over its plans to continue with its tax on digital services.

President Trump said Friday he was suspending trade talks with Canada and would announce within a week a higher tariff rate on the U.S.’s northern neighbor. In a post on social media, Trump said he was cutting off negotiations with Canada after its government confirmed it would keep in place a digital
