The forecast heading into MLK Day will be beautiful to kick off the new week! Highs will top out in the lower 50s with plenty of sunshine to go around. A dry cold front is expected to swing in by the end of the day to reinforce the current cool, chilly weather.
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - First Alert Weather Days have been declared due to bitterly cold conditions early Monday morning through midday Tuesday. Brisk winds Monday morning will also cause blowing snow. An additional blast of arctic air is forecast to impact the region late week into next weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for parts of southeast Wisconsin from Friday night into Saturday morning, Jan. 17.

Traffic alert: Messy morning commute in southern Wisconsin after early morning snowfall
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Early morning light snow and falling temperatures created icy conditions on the pavement resulting in numerous crashes and slide-offs on Wednesday morning. Wisconsin DOT is reporting a series of crashes on I-39/90. There are also crashes impacting the commute on the Beltline and I-94.
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - As the Artic Chill dives southward across Wisconsin, sky conditions should remain favorable for the chance at seeing the Northern Lights Monday Night. The Space Weather Prediction Center issued a G4 Geomagnetic Storm Watch, which means the Aurora Borealis may be visible as far south as the central plains states.

Wisconsin winter weather: More snow on the way Saturday
MILWAUKEE - The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for southeast Wisconsin until 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 for Dodge County and west into southern Wisconsin, and until 9 p.m. for Jefferson, Rock, Walworth, Racine, Kenosha, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Washington, and Ozaukee Counties until 9 p.m.
