The White House has withdrawn its nomination of Dr. Dave Weldon to serve as the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, two Trump administration official familiar with the decision told CNN.

The White House has withdrawn its nominee to run the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in an abrupt move just hours before his confirmation hearing was scheduled to begin.

Weldon was told Wednesday night that his nomination was being withdrawn, another Trump administration official said. The White House decided to pull Weldon’s nomination when it became clear that he would not have the votes to be favorably reported out of committee because of his past controversial comments about vaccines, the official said.

A White House official told crypto industry leaders this week that there should be no limit to the size of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

Since Tesla CEO Elon Musk joined the Trump administration, the effects on his car company have been dramatic, with the stock price significantly down. Tesla vehicles and dealerships have also been the target of vandals.
