ESPN has carried NFL games since 1987 and “Monday Night Football” since 2006. Under the current TV contract, it will have the 2027 and 2031 Super Bowls for the first time.

ESPN will acquire NFL Network and other media assets from the NFL in exchange for the league taking a 10% equity stake in the all-sports network as part of a landmark agreement.

In return, the NFL gets a 10% stake in ESPN — a piece of equity that is easily worth billions of dollars. On Tuesday, the league shared more details about the massive transaction.

The NFL Network, along with the NFL programming assets, will become a core part of ESPN’s upcoming direct-to-consumer service, named “ESPN” and launching on August 21.

Everything about NFL Network and RedZone will remain the same for the 2025 NFL season. • Once the deal is approved, RedZone will continue to be produced and operated by the NFL, not ESPN.
