Tropical Storm Melissa, the 13th named storm this season, formed in the Caribbean Sea Tuesday morning, according to forecasters. Melissa remains a low threat to Florida and the United States. No reliable model runs show the storm making it into the Gulf of Mexico, or striking the United States.

Invest 98L in the eastern Caribbean is expected to strengthen into a tropical depression or tropical storm early this week.

"The longer Melissa tracks to the west, the greater the chance of an impact on the U.S.," AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.
