Florida football's defensive backs coach Will Harris is moving on to the Miami Hurricanes after a season with the Gators.

Although his contract wasn't set to expire, Florida was reportedly working on extending Harris prior to his departure. In early February, head coach Billy Napier explained that contract extensions were being finalized. “For the most part, yes. I mean some of those deals are not done," he said on Feb. 5. "Hopefully we’ll get everybody back.”

UF’s secondary made significant improvement after just one season under Harris, getting eight more interceptions than in 2023.

Under Will Harris, the team’s defensive backs totaled 11 of the team’s 14 interceptions a season after Florida managed just 3 picks, tied with Temple for the fewest in college football.

The Miami Hurricanes are preparing to have one of the best seasons in recent memory and they have to make sure their defense won't hold them back. They land Will Harris to ensure that they will be great on the defensive side of the ball.
