The city of Cleveland is considering leasing the portion of Gordon Park south of the Shoreway to the Cleveland Metroparks, which already leases most of the city's lakeshore parks.

Because Gordon Park was split in two by the construction of I-90, and the extension of the CSX railroad line, an ongoing silo effect has only harmed access to the parkland.
