Timber Fire initially started at 8:35 p.m. Aug. 8 - Southeast of Loma Vista in Monterey County, California. By Sunday morning, it had burned 9,665 acres, an increase of 1,000 acres since the last update. As of Sunday morning, the fire crew managed to contain 25% of this wildfire. At present, details about the cause of the fire are unknown.

As wildfire season intensifies, four California fires have scorched thousands of acres, including the growing Timber Fire in Big Sur.

Note that full containment doesn't mean the fire is completely out. In this case, it means that the wildfire has been fully enclosed by a control line and it is now stopped from spreading. A fully contained wildfire may continue to burn within the containment perimeter but is not likely to spread.

A new wildfire was reported today at 6:03 p.m. at Highway 74 East and Melba Avenue, Near Homeland in Riverside County, California. Melba Fire has burned 10 acres by Monday evening. There is currently no information on the containment or cause of the fire.

Command of the Mile Post 18 Fire was transferred to California Interagency Incident Management Team 2 yesterday evening. California Team 2 recognizes California Team 1 for the extraordinary efforts they made in suppressing much of MP18 Fire.

Sorrento Fire initially started at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 16 at Sorrento Valley Boulevard and Carmel Mountain Road in San Diego County, California. As of Sunday morning, 138 acres of land had been destroyed by it. By Sunday morning, the fire crew effectively contained 95% of this fire. At present, there are no details on the cause of the fire.
