Tropical Storm Fernand formed far out in the central Atlantic and is currently hundreds of miles east-northeast of Bermuda. It poses no danger to land. Invest 99L also managed to survive over the weekend and is headed westward through the Caribbean, but isn’t expected to develop over the next week.

Tropical Storm Fernand is located 300 miles east of Bermuda. It has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1005 millibars, NHC says. Fernand is moving northward at about 12 mph and should move across the open waters of the subtropical central Atlantic, NHC says.

The storm poses no immediate threat to the Sunshine State, but officials warn residents to stay alert during peak hurricane season as predictions still suggest six to ten hurricanes, and three to five
