In a matter of days, Apple will launch iPhone software which is strikingly different to what’s available now — even down to the naming.

Apple iPhone fans may soon feel like their parents, who had to watch their baby grow up way too fast. The latest reports suggest the tech giant won’t stick to its old naming convention. The expected iOS 19 will instead be called iOS 26 to line up with the year following now.

That means we could soon see the debut of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26 and visionOS 26. The numbers would align with the year after each major OS release, since Apple typically rolls out the first public versions of those each fall.
