Death Stranding 2 was officially revealed at The Game Awards in December, with Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, and Troy Baker returning, and Shioli Kutsuna joining Fanning as a newcomer.

Speaking to IndieWire, the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach creator was asked if there were any deceased actors who would have fit his style. Kojima named Steve McQueen, calling him his childhood hero.
