LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman exited Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers after being hit by a pitch on his left wrist in the sixth inning. Brewers left-hander Jose Quintana threw an 88 mph sinker that ran inside and hit Freeman square in the wrist as he attempted to hold up a partial swing.

The struggling shortstop has a long history batting leadoff, which he will do against left-handed pitchers, and Ohtani will be at the top against right-handers in the short term.

So Dodgers manager Dave Roberts took things a step further Saturday afternoon, sitting Betts just one game after the All-Star break. Roberts left the door open that Betts could sit Sunday, too, as the Dodgers hope their superstar can generate some positive offensive momentum.
